Appointments at Golinski Tax Prep, LLC in Spring Hill go more smoothly when the year’s papers are in one folder. This list follows the forms the IRS uses to report wages, Social Security, pensions, and mortgage interest. It is a starting point, not a complete list for every return.
Bring these if you have them
- A photo ID and your Social Security number (or ITIN).
- Last year’s federal return, and last year’s return from any other state.
- Form W-2 from each employer. See the IRS page on Form W-2.
- Form SSA-1099 if you received Social Security benefits.
- Form 1099-R for pensions, annuities, or IRA withdrawals.
- Forms 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, and brokerage statements for interest and dividends.
- Form 1098 if you paid mortgage interest.
- Property-tax and qualifying medical receipts if you may itemize. Topic no. 501 explains when itemizing applies.
- Any IRS or state notice you received during the year.
If you retired or moved to Florida
Many Spring Hill clients also need SSA-1099 and 1099-R. If you lived in another state this year, bring W-2s and 1099s that show state withholding, the dates you moved, and the other state’s prior return. Those records support a part-year or nonresident return in the state you left. Florida does not have a personal income tax return.
